Rosebel Gold Mines is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer, Drill & Blast, to join our mine technical services department. As the Senior Engineer, Drill & Blast, you will provide leadership and functional expertise in support of the open-pit drilling and blasting operations. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient management of explosives, oversight of the pattern design, production, wall control drilling, and blast initiation processes, as well as other ancillary drilling and blasting operations. You will work closely with the Mine Operations team to ensure that drilling and blasting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures. You will also be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to the team, as well as developing and implementing new drilling and blasting strategies to improve operational efficiency.Your key responsibilities will include: Lead the drill and blast planning and scheduling in accordance with the short-range mine plan.Lead initiatives by identifying opportunities, products, or techniques for reducing drill and blast costs while improving the productivity of our loading fleet.Prepare, verify, and approve drill and blast designs, including tie-up plans.Provide leadership, technical expertise, and mentoring support to the junior drill & blast engineers. Supervise the production reports related to drill and blast activities.Oversee the preparation of a weekly drill and blast plan in conjunction with the senior mining engineers.The ideal candidate will have:Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in hard rock drilling and blasting.Knowledge of mine design software (preferably Gemcom GEMS) and MS Office (including Access).Common Core Certification & holder of all required blasting tickets in the related jurisdiction.Experience with DTH rigs and RC grade control drilling operations is essential.Strong leadership and communication skills.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English.
