My client is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their bookkeeping department within a busy accountancy practice, based in Tralee. The successful candidate will manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial records and the timely submission of VAT returns. This role will involve working with modern cloud-based accounting systems, particularly Xero, along with other online platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, and bank transactions
- Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing and filing VAT returns in line with Irish Revenue requirements
- Working with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and other online systems
- Maintaining digital records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and year-end files for the accounts team
- Communicating with clients to resolve queries and obtain financial information
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns in Ireland
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts
- Xero Advisor certification
- Experience with other cloud accounting packages (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Dext, or similar)
- Accounting technician qualification or relevant bookkeeping certification
