General Operative (Rotating Shift Pattern)

Role Overview:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Operative to join our growing, friendly team at Niftylift! The role is based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Stonebridge, Milton Keynes.This is a hands-on role, including shot blasting, fully preparing metal components and operating/maintaining all non-CNC machines.About the CompanyNiftylift Limited is a private UK company founded in 1985 and is now one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of mobile elevated work platforms. The business employs over 450 people across three UK centres of excellence manufacturing sites.Key Responsibilities:Follow processes and detail any non-conformances.Use gauges and measuring equipment for inspection purposes.Use jigs and assembly fixtures to manufacture high-quality repetitive components.Maintain a clean environment within the department.Use correct consumables for preparation and sanding of metal and polymer components before paint/powder application.Booking on and off jobs, filling out timesheets and quality check sheets.Identifying material surface defects on parts prior to paint/powder application and repairing using adequate products.Masking, final paint/powder preparation, handling parts on and off paint runways.Moving chassis parts in and out of paint booths.Maintaining a high standard of 5s workplace organisation.Personal Characteristics:Committed team player with emphasis on flexibility and productivity.Good Attention to detail.Must be prepared to work regular overtime.Previous Experience:Ability to read and execute SOP'S to a high standard.An appreciation of the Health & Safety hazards within a paint shop, specifically isocyanates & flammable liquids. Experience operating within a lean manufacturing/continuous improvement team environment.Ability to read, write and communicate at all levels.Experience preparing unpainted parts (desirable).Welding knowledge (desirable).Experience using and maintaining air-fed respiratory equipment (desirable).Shot blasting experience (desirable).Working Hours:This role works on a rotating shift pattern, and the successful candidate will work one week of early shifts followed by one week of late shifts (37.5 hours per week basic):Early Shift: 06:00 - 14:00 (Monday - Thursday), 06:00 - 11:30 (Friday).Late Shift: 14:00 - 22:00 (Monday - Thursday), 11:00 - 16:30 (Friday).Mandatory structured overtime depending on business requirements.Guaranteed hourly starting rate: £12.86 per hour (rising to a maximum of £13.67 per hour once signed off at specific skill levels)Shift Premium: 15% on all basic hours worked (37.5 per week)Additional Weekly Bonus: approximately £75 - £100 per week (for ref only), guaranteed at a minimum of £50 oer week, payable when all qualifying criteria are met.Overtime: paid at a premium rate (x1.5 or x2.0 depending on hours worked)Annual Bonus: £500 per annum (for ref only, based on recent average).Benefits:25 days holiday (rising with service to 30 days) plus bank holidaysAnnual bonus (£500 per annum, based on recent average - for indication only)5% contributory pension schemeLife insurance schemeHealth cover schemeStaff discountsCycle to Work schemeEmployee referral schemeDiscounted gym membershipsFree on-site parkingSubsidised refreshments (lunch and drink options)Free quarterly company lunchesFree family eventsOn-site changing rooms and showers
