Job description

HPC (Home Project Centre) Group is a 100% privately owned Irish business providing a comprehensive range of building materials and DIY products to the construction industry and DIY trade. HPC continue to expand and grow with 420 + employees.

Operating under well-established trading names, TJ O' Mahony and PH Ross, currently trading from 18 Branches Nationwide with a turnover of + €155m. In addition, the Group has specialist divisions including - Heating, Plumbing, Insulation, Paving and Decking, further enhancing our product offering and expertise.

The Group is currently looking to hire a qualified Accountant to join their Finance team, a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are highly motivated, with a strong accounting background and capability. The role will be based in Ballymount Dublin 24.


Job Title: Accountant

To maintain accurate financial records, preparing and filing taxes, ensuring compliance with regulations. Providing strategic financial advice and auditing, analysing financial data to identify trends and make future predictions. Identifying opportunities for increased profitability and recommending measures to reduce costs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Monthly Management Accounts for a number of Branches.
  • Prepare detailed quarterly accounts to deadlines.
  • Analysing and Reporting on any variances in the Branch accounts.
  • Preparation and distribution of KPI's to the leadership team.
  • Maintain and Report on Groups Fixed Asset Register.
  • Running Monthly/Weekly Payroll.
  • Ensuring compliance to Revenue.
  • Assisting with tax matters including VAT and corporation tax.
  • Managing the Annual External Audit.
  • Assisting with Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Manage and report monthly on Key Balance Sheet Items.
  • Assisting with Group Reporting.


Skills & Competencies

  • Thorough and practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
  • Understanding of business and financial issues.
  • Proactive, ability to use own initiative and willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Capable of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a varied workload.
  • Ability to be flexible, with an understanding that requirements can change.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with financial software.
  • Advanced MS Excel and Word skills.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Proactive in seeking guidance when planning or prioritising complex or conflicting tasks.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within the organisation.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively as part of the team to achieve success.


Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role.
  • Recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
