This role is for a commercially minded Data Scientist in the Group Decision Science team.
Our Decision Science team focus on:
- Understanding, measuring, and predicting customer behavior. The team uses both empirical and machine learning techniques to answer questions about customer behaviour in order to optimize collections.
- Asset valuation, cash flow and cost projections for portfolios of typically non-performing or distressed assets.
- Responsible for work streams on projects to deliver statistical and empirical analytics.
- Data warehouse interrogation, data collection, sample selection and preparation.
- Statistical model building to agreed objectives and deadlines.
- Look for innovation in Cabot Credit Management statistical modeling techniques, which this role would also contribute to.
- Understand consumer behavior relating to the services provided by Cabot Credit Management.
- Work with other teams and departments to ensure modeling output is effectively deployed into the business.
- Highly numerate and detail oriented.
- Good understanding of the retail credit industry lifecycle.
- 2 years minimum work experience in an analytical role.
- Python and SQL for data analysis and modelling
- Regression and tree‑based methods (e.g. linear/logistic regression, GBM, random forest)
- Advanced Excel skills, including data validation and analytical modelling
- Experience with Azure, Databricks or similar cloud platforms
- Exposure to LLMs (prompting, evaluation, or applied use cases)
- Experience working with collections, recoveries or distressed debt data
- Numerical degree or evidence of equivalent certification, post graduate numerical degree is preferred (MSc Degree or PhD).
- Technical Certification in interrogation software is preferred (SAS, R, Python, SQL).
- English – High level. The location is Spain, but reporting will be directly to the UK.
